We support the Children’s Home and the Environmental Self-Help Home in Pleszew

We had the pleasure of organizing unique workshops on creating ceramic products for the residents of the Środowiskowy Dom Samopomocy and Dom Dziecka in Pleszew. The project aimed to teach new skills, integrate and develop the participants’ creativity. The workshops took place in the ceramics studio of the Zajezdnia Kultury in Pleszew. They were led by Ilona Djoniziak, a graduate of workshop graphics at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.

First Meeting: Making Ceramics

The first workshop meeting was full of emotions and creativity. The children had the opportunity to create objects from clay by their own. Under the watchful eye of Ilona Djoniziak, the participants learned about the basics of working with ceramics, clay shaping techniques, and tools used to create ceramic products.

Each child could create their unique works – from small figurines, through vessels, to ornaments. The creativity of the participants knew no bounds, and their works were full of colors and various forms. It was a time full of fun and learning, and the children proudly presented their first ceramic works.

Second Meeting: Glazing, Firing and Painting

At the second meeting, the children returned to the studio to continue their ceramics adventure. This time, they were expected to glaze, fire, and paint their previously created works.

The children could choose different colors of glaze and apply them to their works. Then, the works were fired in a special ceramic kiln, which additionally aroused the curiosity of the participants. After firing, it was time for painting, which gave the works an individual character and a unique finish.

Workshop results

The effects of the workshops exceeded our expectations. The children created beautiful and unique products that were not only pleasing to the eye but also gave them great satisfaction from their work. It was also a time when the participants could develop their manual skills, creativity, and patience.

The workshops brought a lot of joy and smiles, both to the children and the instructors. It was also a great opportunity to integrate and build positive relationships between the participants.

The project of ceramic workshops for Środowiskowy Dom Samopomocy and Dom Dziecka in Pleszew brought us much joy.
